BOOK of the MONTH

９月のおすすめの本は東京バレエ団、ねむれる森の美女のプログラムです。先週土曜日私はこのバレエを島根県民会館で見に行きました♫

このプログラム中にはバレエの物語とキャラクターのプロフィールとキレイなコスチューム「芝居の衣装」の写真があります。

私は幼かった時から、バレエが好きで、バレエ教室に通っていました。松江でそのような有名なバレエを見れて本当に満足でした♡

September’s featured ‘book’ is the program from The Tokyo Ballet’s production of The Sleeping Beauty, which I went and saw last week at the Shimane Civic Center. The program has an excellent description of the ballet’s story, as well as profiles of the main characters. There are also lovely photos of the cast in their beautiful costumes!!

The performance was very enjoyable and featured the original choreography by Marius Petipa ; however, the ballet was abridged so that children could enjoy it, and there were even brief moments of comical narration.😊

Since I have studied ballet from a young age, I was very happy to be able to attend this special performance in Matsue. ♡

７月のおすすめの本は「Full Bleed: New York City Skateboard Photography」です。

この本は40人以上のカメラマンが、スケートボードの歴史、1970年代後半から30年間の歴史を写真で綴っています。

July’s book is Full Bleed: New York City Skateboard Photography.

Over 40 photographers have captured the evolution of skateboarding in New York city, from the late-1970s to the present.  This book will take you on a photographic tour of the streets of this iconic city.

BOOK of the MONTH

6月のおすすめの本は「おやすみなさいダース・ヴェイダー」です。

June’s book is Good Night Darth Vader by Jeffrey Brown, the 3rd in a series imagining Darth Vader tackling fatherhood.

この本はダース・ヴェイダーがパパのシリーズ第3で〜す！2013年6月には第1「ダース・ヴェイダーとルーク(4才) 」と2014年6月には第2「ダース・ヴェイダーとプリンセス・レイア」ご紹介しました。

今回は日本語のバージョンですが絵本なので面白いと思います😉

I featured the 1st book, Darth Vader and Son in Japanese in June 2013, and the 2nd book, Vader’s Little Princess in English in June 2014.

This month’s book is in Japanese, but the brilliant illustrations allow anyone to follow along as Papa Vader reads a bedtime story with familiar characters from the Star Wars universe to his rambunctious twins.

４月のおすすめ本は シャルル・ ペローの「CINDERELLA」です。

この本にはイタリア人のイラスト、ロベルト・ インノチェンティが絵画を1920代に変えしました。

シンデレラはさまざまな異形があります。私が好きなは映画「エバー・アフター」と１９５０年のディズニーアニメです！！そしてディズニーが新しいの映画「シンデレラ」は日本で4月25日「土」公開もあります！！見たいですね♡

April’s book is Charles Perrault’s version of Cinderella; however, the illustrator, Italian artist Roberto Innocenti, chose to set the tale in the 1920s.

Cinderella is a fairytale with many variations, from children’s storybooks, to ballets, musicals, and films.

Three of my favorite versions are: the novel by Gregory Maguire,  Confessions of an Ugly Stepsister; the film Ever After, starring Drew Barrymore; and Disney’s 1950 animated feature film, Cinderella.

I’m excited to see the live-action version which will be released in Japan on April 25th.

私が高校生のときにスクールミュージカル「シンデレラ」をしました！！私のはシンデレラの義理の姉でした。とても懐かしい良い思い出です！！（笑）

Actually, when I was a high school student, I was in yet another version: Rodgers and Hammerstein’s Cinderella.  This version is a musical also based on the Charles Perrault story.  I was cast as one of the wicked stepsisters and I really enjoyed my part.😈

３月のおすすめ本は「THE QUOTABLE STAR WARS」です。この本には「オリジナル・トリロジー」「スター・ウォーズ」映画の一番有名な言葉 があります。

March’s book is The Quotable Star Wars, complied by Stephen J. Sansweet.  The book contains all the best lines from the original Star Wars trilogy, from Ben Kenobi’s famous “The Force will be with you…always,” to Princess Leia’s quip, “I’d just as soon kiss a wookiee,” to Master Yoda’s wise words, “Try not.  Do.  Or do not.  There is no try”.

私が子供のときに大好きな映画です！！毎日隣の友達と一緒に「スター・ウォーズ」の登場人物を真似して遊んでいました。私はいつも好きな「レイア姫」でした。そして３年前私はハロウィンに「レイア姫」の仮装をしました。どちらが本物かな？😉

When I was a kid, these were my favorite movies.  I spent many summer days with the neighborhood kids and my little brother make-believing we were characters from the Star Wars universe.  Of course, I insisted on being Princess Leia, who I wanted to be when I grew up😉. Actually, I dressed as Princess Leia 3 years ago for Halloween!!  Can you tell which is the real one?
