This year I was able to attend the Tenjin-san Natsu Matsuri, a shinto festival held every 24th and 25th of July. As in past years, the mikoshi are paraded down the streets, which are lined with food and game booths. People of all ages come to enjoy the festival and it’s really energetic and full of smiling faces! This year I wore yukata 👘 to the festival, which made it extra fun and special.

Doll Festival ♡

Hinamatsuri (Doll Festival) is celebrated throughout Japan by displaying dolls in costumes typically of the Heian period.  Before the Gregorian calendar was adopted during the Meiji period, the date of celebration more closely corresponded to April 3rd on the lunar calendar.  In light of this, Hair Innovation’s Dairibina (Imperial Dolls) are displayed for 1 month, from March 3 to April 3rd.♥

Hiroshima Dreamination

Jennifer

We went to Hiroshima city for a seminar on Monday.  After it was over, I suggested we walk to Peace Boulevard to see if the annual illumination event, known as Dreamination, had started.  Unfortunately, the event officially started on Tuesday, but there were a few areas already lit up, so I posed under a cute gazebo♥.

I have seen this event in the past, and it is quite incredible!  This year’s Dreamination is from November 17th, 2015 to January 3rd, 2016, every evening from 17:30 to 22:30!!

Dairibina (Imperial Dolls)

On March 3rd, Hinamatsuri (Doll Festival) is widely celebrated throughout Japan.  However, according to the traditional lunar calendar, it may also be celebrated one month later on April 3rd.  After Valentine’s Day, department stores exhibit the traditional dolls on tiered platforms lined with red carpet.  The dolls and their accessories are typically of the Heian period, and some displays can be quite gorgeous!!  This year, Hair Innovation also has two mini dolls. 🙂  The Dairibina (Imperial Dolls) are on the top tier and represent the Emperor and Empress.  My dolls are simple, but very cute and will be on display until April 3rd.♡

These photos are from the Tenjin-san Natsu Matsuri, a shinto festival held every 24th and 25th of July at Tenman-gu shrines all over Japan.  In Matsue, the mikoshi are paraded down the streets, which are lined with food and game booths.

The shrine is lit up and packed with festival goers coming to pay homage to the god of scholarship.  It is one of my favorite parts of summer!

Members of Matsue City FC were also at the festival! Go Matsue❤︎
