English Garden🌺

UPDATE

The English Garden is now primarily used as a wedding venue through services provided by Corridor Court or ラブレ(Lovere), and as a photography location for Studio Viescene. However, the upscale restaurant LAUT also accepts reservations for afternoon tea (11:30-16:00), lunch (11:30-15:30) and dinner (from 18:00). It is closed on Tuesdays and Wednesdays, and reservations for dinner are accepted until 15:00 one day in advance.

松江イングリッシュガーデンへ遊びに行って来ました。バラのシーズンでいっぱい咲いていてとてもきれいです！

Recently, I went to the Matsue English Garden. The roses were all in full bloom, so it was especially spectacular! I felt like Alice in Wonderland as I wandered through the beautiful pathways and arches.♥

暑くなってきましたが日陰もあるので休憩しながら楽しめます。新しい友達と仲良くしてました（笑）

Although the weather has been getting hotter, there are many benches throughout the garden where you can relax in the cool shade. I even made a new friend, like Alice did when she was in Wonderland!😂

まだまだ６月に咲くお花がありますので是非行って下さい！

There are still many flowers that are blooming this month so it’s a great time to visit!

BOOKs of the MONTH

6月のおすすめの本は全てのダース・ヴェイダーがパパのシリーズ第1〜第4で〜す！

In honor of Father’s Day later this month, I’m featuring all four books in the Darth Vader™ series by Jeffrey Brown: Darth Vader and Son, Vader’s Little Princess, Good Night Darth Vader, and Darth Vader and Friends.

The series shows the joys and trials of fatherhood as experienced by one of the world’s most iconic villains and is delightfully illustrated.♥

島根でWine Tasting！

去年の夏、私はオレゴン州のワイナリーを紹介しました。今回は松江市近くの奥出雲葡萄園へ行って来ました！

Last fall, when I wrote about wine tasting in Oregon, I said I’d like to visit the wineries near Matsue. And last week I went to Oku-Izumo Vineyard!

奥出雲ワイン赤、白、そしておすすめのロゼをテイスティングしました（右の写真）！ロゼの名前は「きすきのさくら」で本当に軽いさくらの香りと味がありました。

Pictured at right are three of the wines I tasted: a rosé, white and red. The rosé, called Kisuki Sakura, had a hint of the sakura (cherry blossom) taste. They were all very nice!

とてもキレイ眺めを楽しみました！ワインショップにはおすすめのグッスもあります、パスタ、チーズ、ドライトマトなど。地下にはワイン樽貯蔵室と様々な作品展示するギャラリーもあるので楽しめます。

The setting of the winery is beautiful, and the grounds, shop, and cellar are open from 10am-5pm (closed on Tuesdays). There is also a garden cafe open from 10:00am-4:30pm, but depending on the weather the hours may change.

ステキな場所だった、また庭カフェに行きたいで〜す！

It was a lovely place; I can’t wait to go back for lunch!

BOOK of the MONTH

５月のおすすめの本はオレンジページVol.5です。
この本には美味しそうでヘルシーなレシピがいっぱいあります。イタリアの知恵なす料理もおすすめです。

May’s book is a mook (the Japanese portmanteau of “magazine” and “book”) published by the cooking magazine, Orange Page. It features healthy, organic recipes, and also a section devoted to Italian dishes, like lasagna, using nasu (Japanese eggplant).

私はなすが好きでお父さんのおすすめなす料理を何回も頑張って作りました「下の写真」。

I love the flavor of Japanese eggplant, and pictured above are my recent, numerous attempts cooking with it.

やっぱり私のお父さんが作ったなす料理がキレイと美味しいそう（下の写真）。今から頑張る！

In the end, I couldn’t compete with my father’s beautiful eggplant dish, pictured above, but I’ll keep trying!

千手院のさくら

先週、千手院で250年余の桜を見に行きました！松江の有名な枝垂れさくらはとても美しいですね！！千手院からの松江城もステキに見えますよ。

Last week, Mr. K and I went to see the beautiful “weeping” cherry tree at Senjyuin Temple. The temple is situated on a hill and also offers sweeping views of the city, including the castle. The iconic tree is around 250 years old and has been designated as a natural monument of Matsue.

I’m looking forward to next year’s cherry blossoms!
