BOOK of the MONTH

５月のおすすめの本はREADING EGYPTIAN ARTです。

この本の中は古代エジプトヒエログリフのガイドブックです。前にも述べたように私の一番見てみたい場所はエジプト♡

２０１２年の５月に私達は大阪でツタンカーメン展 ～黄金の秘宝と少年王の真実～を見ました！このガイドブックを持ってヒエログリフを読もうとしましたが難しかった（笑）いい思い出です！！

May’s book is Reading Egyptian Art: A Hieroglyphic Guide to Ancient Egyptian Painting and Sculpture.

As I’ve mentioned before, my dream is to visit all the sites of Ancient Egypt. ♡

In May of 2012, Mr. K and I were very lucky to go to Osaka and see the museum exhibit: Tutankhamun and the Golden Age of Pharaohs.

I brought this book with me so I could try and read the hieroglyphs in the exhibition 😉  It brings back great memories!!

先週の日曜日はアメリカのアカデミー賞でした。アカデミー賞では多くのハリウッドスターの方がデザイナードレスを着てレッドカーペットを歩く様子は有名ですね。

そして今回の3月のおすすめの本は「100 DRESSES」です。この本の中にはメトロポリタン美術館の衣装研究所部門 から100おすすめドレスが見れます。

Last Sunday was the Academy Awards at the Dolby Theatre, in Hollywood.  I couldn’t watch the show, but I enjoyed the slide show of the famous stars in designer gowns on the red carpet.

After admiring this year’s red carpet dresses, I decided March’s book will be 100 DRESSES from The Metropolitan Museum of Art’s Costume Institute.  This book features 100 gorgeous dresses from the past 300 years.

7世紀後半から21世紀始めのカジュアルまたはフォーマルガウン、すべてはカラー写真で美しいです。有名なデザイナーさんではシャネル・ヴェルサーチそして日本のファッションレーベルのコム・デ・ギャルソン「下左の写真」もあります！！私は1920年から1940年代のイブニングドレスがすきです♡

The lovely full color photos include everything from day wear and “walking dresses” to extravagant gowns and designer couture.  Dresses from famous fashion houses like Chanel and Versace, as well as modern Japanese fashion label Comme des Garçons (above left) are also featured. I particularly like the evening gowns from the 1920s and 1930s.  The one pictured at right is a “dance dress” by French designer, Louiseboulanger.

雛祭り！

こんにちは、Jenniferです 🙂

３月３日は雛祭りですね！でも島根県は４月３日に祝うみたいです。それで今年ヘアーイノベーションも今から４月３日まで蜷人形があります。毎年デパートで凄い雛祭りのディスプレーを見てます！！いろいろな種類の人形があります、たとえば三人官女と随身です。本当にゴージャスな感じです。私はカワイイとシンプルの内裏雛があります♡

内裏雛・Dairibina (Imperial Dolls)

On March 3rd, Hinamatsuri (Doll Festival) is widely celebrated throughout Japan.  However, according to the traditional lunar calendar, it may also be celebrated one month later on April 3rd.  After Valentine’s Day, department stores exhibit the traditional dolls on tiered platforms lined with red carpet.  The dolls and their accessories are typically of the Heian period, and some displays can be quite gorgeous!!  Hair Innovation also has two mini dolls. 🙂  The Dairibina (Imperial Dolls) are on the top tier and represent the Emperor and Empress.  My dolls are simple, but very cute and will be on display until April 3rd.♡

２月のおすすめの本は軍艦島 超景です。

February’s recommendation is a photography book on Hashima (also known as Gunkanjima–Battleship Island), a derelict island in Nagasaki Prefecture.

端島

軍艦島（端島）は長崎県にある島。　明治26年から昭和49年この島は炭鉱で栄えた島です。小さな島ですが一時期は5,000人以上が住んでいたそうです。この本の中には写真がいっぱいあります。端島は４０年間誰も住んでないため自然もあります。映画007スカイフォールのインスピレーションの場所でもあります。最近ツアーもあります。私も軍艦島へ行きたいです！

Developed in the late 1880s to house a coal mining facility, it grew to host a population of over 5,000 in the 1960s before being abandoned in 1974.  Although it has since been deteriorating, the ruins are testament to the Industrial Age in Japan.

The photography book shows the island as it is today, a haunting juxtaposition of industrial buildings being reclaimed by nature.  You may recognize Hashima from the 2012 James Bond movie Skyfall, as it served as the model for the villain’s base.

While the island is unsafe to completely explore, there are tours to some parts of the island.  I would very much like to visit this island of history someday.

Happy HALLOWEEN!!

明日はハロウィンですね！！　ハロウィンは私の二番目に大好きな日です。私の一番目は「メーデー」ですね  😉　

October 31st is Halloween!!  It’s my 2nd favorite day of the year after May Day 🌷. 

私は三歳からハロウィンをお祝いしています。毎年、お母さんの手作りコスチュームを来てから弟くんと一緒に町トリック・オア・トリートへ行っていました！！　すごい楽しかった思い出がいっぱいあります。

I’ve been celebrating Halloween since I was 3 years old.  Every year, my mom made costumes for my brother and I, and we went trick-or-treating together in our neighborhood.  I have so many great memories!!

今年もちろんコスプレしました！！毎年、松江のポートベローでハロウィンパーティーがあります♪

Each year there is a Halloween Party at Port Below on the last Saturday of the month, so of course I dressed up to celebrate!

Many people came in costumes, so I was very happy!!  Mr. K and I went as Roger and Jessica Rabbit from the movie Who Framed Roger Rabbit.
